Complete Cat Training

Complete Cat Training makes some very bold statements. It claims that thousands of people worldwide have been successful in their cat training and solved their cat’s behavior problems. After reading it, I could probably believe it.

First of all, the author Paula Robb claims and shows that all cats are trainable. There are drawings and easy to understand instructions in how to train your cat to do tricks, but also solve the most common behavior problems (over 25 problems are covered).

There are also real life examples to work off. She outlines a 12 week training program that will make your cat understand what you tell them. The book comes in shy of a hefty 200 pages so there is no shortage of information in there.

She also covers good and bad cat behaviours, how to get your cat into YOUR routine as well as how to toilet train your cat. She also covers the topic of having multiple cats and how to combat any aggression they display towards each other.

Cat Secrets Revealed is another one of those comprehensive tell all cat training books. Written by an animal psychologist, Liz Barton, also a cat trainer based in Texas, U.S.A.

Liz also covers how to train your cat to do tricks as well as combating all of the common cat behavior problems the cat owner will encounter in their cat’s lifetime. Obviously with the authors psychology background, there are lots of references as to why the cats are exhibiting certain behaviors which helps the reader understand their cat’s behavior.

There are great tips for the new kitten owner as well to establish wanted behaviors and eliminate unwanted cat behaviors from the get go. Sort of like a cat startup manual if you will.

I like the fact she is quite honest and up front in stating that this book will not be the magic fix that everyone is looking for. The obvious and truthful fact that it will take time and effort on the cat owner’s behalf to stick to new routines to get the desired response is made.

Train That Cat

Cat Training: How to Train Your Cat is another of the good training programs out there. Written and produced by Ed Brancheau, this is a little different in that it also comes with an audio mp3. This makes it very handy to listen to it in the car, or simply on your mp3 player.

Again, covering all the basics of cat training to perform tricks, basic commands etc to stopping all those annoying cat behaviors.

Now, there is nothing in here that the first two books don’t have, but the fact that it comes with an audio file is different and useful for those that just want to listen rather than read.

Unfortunately, there are no bonuses in this package unlike the previous 2 and that’s why I marked it down over them.

Toilet Train My Cat

Toilet Train My Cat is a great resource, if you just want to toilet train your cat. It does not cover all cat training or behavior problems. Then why did I include it in my top 4? Toilet training your cat is one of the top behaviors cat owners need, whether with a litter box or toilet. Now obviously, it is much more hygienic, convenient and cost effective to use your own toilet rather than a litter tray.

This book goes into great detail about everything you must do to successfully toilet train your cat. No doubt, this is the best system out there if you want to teach your cat to use your own toilet.
